Be Active Open Water Swimming
Come Swim with the Lifesavers.
Interested in entering an open water swim but feeling a bit unsure?
Want some free coaching to sharpen your skills and build your confidence?
Our Be Active program welcomes both new comers and old hands to improve their techniques and confidence.
The program is cost free and combines a Saturday swim session broken up into different groups of swimming abilities that includes water safety and the opportunity to try swimming in a regular weekly, short-course handicapped swimming event.
Participants must be able to swim & over 12yrs of age. Sessions commence on Saturday 7th November and are held every Saturday up to the 7 Brighton Jetty Classic on Sunday the 7th February 2016
Time: 2.15pm Saturdays
Venue: Brighton Beach – meet upstairs at the Brighton Surf Life Saving Club to register before the session commences at 2.45pm. The program will run until 3.45pm and if you are interested you are welcome to ‘Come and Try' (3 sessions) in the weekly Brighton Surf Life Saving Club 4 o'clock Swim. This is a handicap race and will finish sometime around 4.15pm. Please register for this event at 2.30pm.
To assist us starting on time, please arrive dressed appropriately. So that you are protected from the environmental elements, please bring appropriate sun block, hat, sunglasses, protective clothing, swimmers, towel, goggles, and water to drink. In addition and for preparation of any physical activity, please ensure that you drink enough water during the day so that dehydration does not occur. You are welcome to join the program at anytime between now and February. If you are interested in building on your general fitness or for the swim events, the sooner you are physically active on a regular basis will benefit you in the long term.
Look forward to seeing you on the beach.
This Be Active program has been funded by the Government of South Australia, Office for Recreation & Sport.
